First Date Do's & Don'ts


Do's

Be yourself. Be confident. Be on time. Be a bit romantic. Make your date feel comfortable. Keep the conversation flow going. Talk about their interests also.

It's a good idea to always request to see a photo prior to meeting your date - photos can lie sometimes, but it will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Show respect to your date's wishes. Focus and listen to your date's conversation without interruption.

Thank s/he for the date when it's over. It's just human kindness.

Offer to help with bills or pay your part if expenses are incurred.

Don'ts

Say I Love You. (Yes, it does sound silly, but some people can actually use this sacred words very quickly.)
Don't lead you date on: If you feel your date is not your type or you do not click with s/he, it is best to show subtle signs that you are not really keen to pursue it any further in a nice and courteous of ways. Don't say we can be friends if you do not have such intentions
Don't be late or talk about yourself all night.
Ask for sex.
Talk about an ex-relationship.
Eat with your mouth open.
Trying to be something you are not.
Show disrespect for your partner or their beliefs.
Forget to thank them for the date.
Propose marriage or kids.
Ask too many questions.
Expect your date to pay all the bills.
